I built this because nothing like it existed. I wanted a map that told me where gold actually is now, not where Victorian miners worked a century ago. Four years and 201 verified locations later, this is it: a solo project, built on BGS open data, maintained by one person who uses it. Pay once and it's yours for life — the map keeps growing either way.
Straight with you: the map gives you researched starting points - places where gold has actually been recorded. It does not guarantee you will find any. That still takes the right spot, the right stretch of river and decent panning. What it saves you is the years of research working out where to try.
